Iris was untouchable because of the abuse she experienced as a young horse. When Iris came to HyTyme it was uncertain if she would ever be able to trust people again. With the care of all our volunteers here at HyTyme and the special attention she received these last few months from Collette Hayes (Barn Manager and Trainer at HyTyme) Iris decided to give people another chance. After 2 years at HyTyme, Iris has become once again the touchable horse.

HyTyme Equine Rescue - located in Eagle Creek, Oregon, 30 miles SE of Portland .
HyTyme Equine Rescue is a 501(3)C dedicated to horse rescue, horse rehabilitation, and horse rehoming. We rescue horses from slaughter, starvation, abuse and neglect. We rehabilitate horses with the proper nutrition, veterinary care, hoof care, grooming, training and love. We rehome horses through adoption. We work hard to find the perfect forever home for each horse.
Other Horse Rescues
Founder Rehabilitation Ranch located in Clayton, California
The Founder Rehab Ranch is a "home-ranch based" rescue and rehab center in
Northern California, dedicated to rehabilitating horses with founder and founder related
illnesses. These horses are either donated to us, rescued by us, or placed in our care
for rehabilitation, to be returned to owners once stable and a plan of action is designed.
Hope for Horses- located in Woodinville, Washington
Hope For Horses is an Equine Humane Society based in Washington State. We are not religiously affiliated, and are governed by a board of directors with wide community representation. We are a 501(c)(3) organization, and all donations are tax-deductible. (We do not accept donated horses, however.) We work exclusively with horses that have been neglected, abused, or abandoned, and respond to requests from animal welfare and control agencies as well as from private citizens.
Save a Forgotten Equine- SAFE
Save a Forgotten Equine (SAFE) is a group dedicated to rescuing horses at risk of being sent to slaughter or in danger of neglect or abuse. We are deeply committed to the horses that we save, and the donations we receive are spent to care for these horses while we work to find homes for them. We provide all of our horses with needed veterinary care, farrier services, blankets, supplements, and nutrition. We evaluate our horses to discover their strengths and suitabilities, and we provide many of these horses with additional training to help ensure them a safe and productive future.
Shiloh Acres Horse Rescue - located in Ft. Collins, Colorado
We focus mainly on rescuing horses that are headed to slaughter, and do so by either outbidding the "kill buyers" at auction, or getting them directly from these kill buyers who sell them to the slaughterhouses. The remainder of our horses are either owner surrenders, or horses that have been saved from neglectful situations.
Strawberry Mountain Mustangs - located in Roseburg, Oregon
We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the care, adoption, and rehabilitation of all large and small animals. We provide education, training and assistance to our adopters to assure that our animals go to the best possible homes.
Sunny Acres Ranch- located in Grandview, Washington
Sunny Acres Ranch is a private facility specializing in the rescue and rehabilitation of horses at risk for slaughter. Horses are evaluated in training level and health issues before being offered for adoption, so we can pass on as much information about each horse as possible. We also assist owners who need to place a horse in helping them find that perfect home, so their horse does not end up at risk.
